What will be covered during the 11 weeks?
There are two aspects to singing:
– your voice itself
– and the song expression.
The objectives of this module are based on the following:
1. Strengthening of vocal foundation. This module places a heavy emphasis on the technical aspects of singing. Having grasped the essential vocal foundation concepts, we will now build on that practical knowledge to develop your voice further. There will be intensive vocal workouts to strengthen the potential of your voice. More intensive vocalization exercises will be introduced. You can expect more vocal flexibility, a more assertive - thicker tone, more consistency - less breaking, more ease than strain, and a wider singing range. By the end of the course, you will respond faster to the technical demands of the songs you sing.
2. In-depth Interpretation & Contemporary Expression. We will go deeper into the interpretation of songs, communicating more emotively. You will also develop more sensitivity to the dynamics of a song. Building on your enhanced vocal foundation, you will also find it easier to sing expressively with your voice than before - where you will learn ways to make your voice work for you, to go where you instinctively want it to go. The module also introduces contemporary singing in the later half of the module. These will cover several contemporary expressions used by singers today.
How will these 3 months benefit me as a vocalist?
At the end of the module, you would have gained:
- More physical ease when singing in your personal time
- you will be quicker to respond to the demands of the songs you sing.
- More consistency in your delivery as the grounding in vocal foundation will manifest in your singing.
- Deeper insight into the expression of a variety of contemporary songs & how to use sound vocal technique to achieve them.
