Thanks to Believer Music for helping me to start playing a guitar. I am at Level 4 of contemporary guitar classes already. Believer Music developed a very easy and informative learning guide.
You can play a simple song right after the first lesson. All lessons are fun, teachers are friendly and calm.

My class and I have progressed together through the levels of the Contemporary Guitar Program, from Level 1 to 6. We have now continued onwards to Mandopop Clinic 1. We found the courses to be very fulfilling. Even though our coach informed us that we have completed all the music theory courses, we wanted to continue our musical journey and thus decided to enrol in Mandopop Clinic 2. We will have more opportunities to sharpen the theory and skills acquired through the previous levels.
TAN VUI CHUAN [John]
I belong to a class of 6 of the Contemporary Guitar Class at Tampines. Throughout the program, we have found the coach’s teaching method to be really effective, easy-to-follow and very enjoyable. We have all benefited greatly from his classes, and the experience has renewed our motivation to continue our musical journey.

I kind of stumbled into this course somewhat. No regrets whatsoever for signing up though!
It all started with a missed call I received from Believer Music...I called back and one of the Customer Services staff answered the call. He could not identify on record what the initial call was about, thus he asked if there was anything else he could do for me. I asked if he could sign me up for a Guitar Trial class during my lunch hour, and he did. Hence, many thanks to him! If it weren’t for his initiative to serve me further, I would not have asked about the Guitar Trial and would have missed out on restarting my journey of guitar playing.
I attended the Guitar Trial class at Tampines and was beyond impressed by how the coach conducted the session. I would like to commend whoever had crafted the content for the Guitar Trial, it was simply brilliant and ingenious. Prior to the Guitar Trial class, I hadn't touched a guitar for probably more than a decade and it felt really nice to reconnect with the instrument. I walked out of the trial class with an “achievement unlocked" feeling. The trial class was conducted in such a way that you can learn to play a song within minutes. So amazing!
The seven weeks of learning was likened to a rollercoaster ride with many highs and lows. Mind-blowing? Enriching? Humbling? Stressful? A little bit of all these things perhaps. However, the overall experience is so positive it really outweighed all the negatives. The most wonderful experience was overcoming my fear of the metal strings of an acoustic guitar. Till this day, I'm still amazed and shocked that I persevered this far, as I am really pain-adversed, especially when the strings of the guitar had hurt a lot initially. The low points would be the times when I was being corrected on so many points such as strumming, using the right finger muscles, learning how to use the pick and I couldn’t see myself improving. Mid-way through the course I was at a crossroad, contemplating whether it was worth it to continue learning guitar or not.
I think the breakthrough came when I spent my lunch hour playing the guitar and singing along. During the fourth and fifth lessons, I didn't realise how much I would miss singing until I attempted singing and playing the guitar at the same time. To sing and play guitar at the same time is not impossible for me, but it can be difficult due to the multi-tasking involved. I am amazed at how much I love singing along and the guitar accompaniment is just awesome. I felt like my soul was on fire in a glorious way.
I am sure there is still a part of me that stays puzzled as to why I had pumped in so much money to learn and play so many musical instruments. However, seven months down the road and four courses into my journey with Believer Music, it has been such an enriching and motivating journey. The pursuit of music is extremely compelling, I've never felt more alive than during this period of time. Through these lessons, I have rekindled my love for music. Thank you Believer Music for this wonderful experience!

Is there an age limit?
We accept registrations from ages 7-16. We will channel students to classes of compatible age groups whenever possible.
But I know nothing about music!
This step-by-step course is designed for total beginners who have absolutely no prior knowledge in music or the guitar. Individuals who attended other beginner courses but are still unable to play confidently and effectively are advised to join this Beginner Module.
I received classical guitar lessons on previously. Is it still applicable in this course?
It is applicable because you have learnt to listen to yourself as you play and follow general timing. Here, you will learn how to strum effectively in a variety of styles. You will be able to decide the most appropriate rhythm to use as well as play the song in more than one fashion. The course is fairly demanding and requires concentration and time-allocated practice on your own. Nevertheless, what you are going to learn here is going to be fun and practical.
Do I have to bring my guitar around? Is it convenient?
All Training Rooms are fully equipped with practice guitars. Our Training Centres are conveniently located at International Plaza - Flagship (beside Tanjong Pagar MRT station), One Commonwealth (beside Commonwealth MRT station), and Tampines Plaza (beside Tampines MRT station).
Is it FUN?
You'll get to meet people who share the same passion. Learning to play a musical instrument is highly rewarding because it leads to growth in a music-spiritual dimension. Learning to play the guitar is more than fun. It's life changing. We all know of people around us whom we think have successfully learnt to play the guitar reasonably well. With practice, this skill will stay and enrich not only your lives but also the lives of people and family around you (and generations to come). For many of us who are just starting to pick up this unique skill, believe that the journey is well worth it.
Folk and Classical Guitar...What's the difference?
A folk guitar uses steel strings while a classical guitar uses nylon strings. The neck is narrower which makes playing easier, and no, it doesn't hurt as much as you tell yourself! With proper stringing gauge, beginners will feel only a pinch. The folk guitar is made especially for strumming and you'll hear more varied tones as compared to a bass-mid sounding classical guitar .The feel achieved during strumming is probably more rewarding compared to a classical guitar.
