Although I completed my classical piano grade 8 when I was in secondary school, I felt really handicapped and embarrassed if I were approached to play the keyboard with the worship team without any proper music scores.
Many were curious about why, with my grade 8 background, I was reluctant to serve. Most could not understand the dilemma: I could not read and play with just the alphabet chords!
I am thankful that I decided to join the Believer Keyboard Program to start my journey to learn how to play contemporary worship songs in a systematic approach. I had lots of fun practising for the first time, reading the scriptures, praying and worshipping while playing the chords. Looking forward to a new term starting in January 2024.
Thank you Believer Music Team!

I thank God that throughout the course, I can understand how I am weak but God is strong. Lessons progress pretty fast, I pray that I can continue to keep it up.

I have learnt much and enjoyed every single lesson. Even though some sessions might be challenging, I am thankful for the patience that my Coach has shown to all his students and will check in with everyone of us if we are following. Indeed, Believer Music has ensured that no one is left behind.

I used to hate practising piano when I was a kid learning classical piano. I will only start practising 30 mins before the lesson. I dreaded piano lessons!
I can’t believe that 25 years later, I enjoy playing and practising the keyboard throughout the week before my lessons. I have never practised so hard in my life! I am enjoying my lessons so far!

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Regardless of age or gender or how much you know about music, the worship dynamics program speaks for itself, as the spirit of God leads us into higher worship and into the inner courts of the tabernacle. May God’s grace walk you through even if you face challenges during the course. Rest assured all the coaches are anointed and filled with the spirit of patience to teach and generosity to impart their skills to all students who are willing to learn or relearn. Have fun and enjoy the journey. God bless.

2 years ago, after Covid broke out and seeing how time flies, I decided to make full use of whatever time I have on hand to learn something new/pick up a new skill. I have always wanted to learn gospel music and waited for quite some time for the Believer Keyboard Program to start.
I started from beginner class and eventually moved to advanced levels. I have to admit at my age, I felt like I had to work doubly hard to catch up with each lesson.
But my coach is such an amazing coach. I enjoyed her lessons so much; she makes it super easy for me to understand, especially the theory portion. She is patient and always motivates us. She is also responsive to my questions outside of our class schedule.
When I first started the lessons, I was diagnosed with lupus and have difficulties playing the keyboard with my swollen joints (fingers, wrists and arms). 2 years later, by God's grace, I was healed of my pains. I can now play the keyboard with ease and zero pain.
With the knowledge and skills I have acquired about gospel music, I look forward to serving my Care group through leading worship.

My coach is amazing and so inspiring. I really enjoyed her classes. I still practise the very basics. The lessons motivated me to look out for resources that could keep me and another classmate playing and singing simple worship songs. Really love my coach’s playing and singing and the encouragement and energy she brings to the class. Thank you!

I've attended random keyboard/piano courses here and there both in my childhood and as an adult... and it was only at Believer Music that I finally understood chords!! The lessons are well scaffolded and bite-sized, allowing us to master bits at a time, slowly building up our skills by building on what was taught previously. I'm in my 10th class where we revisited the songs done in earlier classes and tried to play them in new styles, with the new skills we had picked up. A very good feeling of accomplishment. At almost 50, I'm enjoying learning and being able to pick up a new skill!

When COVID-19 hit, I started playing keyboard again (had taken lessons at BM some years back). Once Circuit Breaker was over, I started classes immediately. Learning has been a very fun journey for me as I was keen to improve my skills. The Teachers see this as not just a job, but a passion to impart their knowledge to equip more Christians for music ministry. All my keyboard teachers are very dedicated and will patiently answer your questions (no matter how basic the questions are).
I am very happy to say that I have now joined the BM Band classes as Keyboardist, which has been thoroughly fun for me, learning to play as a team and listening to my teammates (guitarist, bass guitarist, drummer, singer). Kudos to whoever started the Band classes as it is an excellent idea to have a Band class (with a coach) in BM so students can apply what they have learnt and bring it to the next steps. Enjoy the learning journey!

ii) Had some classical piano training in the past (Grades 1 - 3) but stopped in the early stages
*Should you have prior playing experience, use the Online Course Allocator to identify the module most suitable for you.

Is there a difference between this accelerated Beginner and the usual Beginner module?
The lesson outline is similar. However, it differs in the following:
i) Held on weekday afternoons only
ii) Compacted Course Syllabus in 3 weeks
iii) Class Dynamics - Younger age group
What will be covered during the 3 weeks?
Our main objective is to equip you to express yourself confidently on the keyboard. As opposed to the conventional note-reading keyboard method, we will focus on the foundational concepts of music for you to flow and minister freely in worship: Rhythm Fundamentals - Basic Scale Construction - Basic Chord Construction - Introduction to Chord Progressions - Song Application
Do I need any musical experience at all?
The Beginner module is designed with the total beginner in mind, bringing hope to individuals who never thought it would be possible to play the keyboard and worship. It has been structured carefully to impart and strengthen the musical foundations of playing the keyboard from an elementary level. If you have already learnt to play some chords/songs because of previous formal training, this module will help strengthen your understanding of music concepts. With the supervision of our dedicated coaches, you will be competent to apply the fundamentals of music in your worship to God.
Do I need to know how to read musical notation before attending the training sessions?
No knowledge of music notation is required at all. We are using a separate system from the conventional keyboard teaching protocol. This knowledge will be imparted only later at a timely juncture. Once again, our main objective is to equip you to express yourself confidently on the keyboard.
I have some experience on the classical piano in the past. However, I arrived at a plateau in my growth as a musician especially in the area of personal worship. Is this program suitable for me?
As a piano student, you should already understand the basics of rhythm, chord construction and scale construction. What we will do in this module is to show how beginners can use these concepts in actual playing. If you feel that you need to learn these from a basic level, you are welcomed to join the classes. If not, you may proceed to WDI.
I do not have an instrument for home practice. Do you have any recommendations?
It is good to have an instrument of your own since you would be practicing often.
What is the difference between an acoustic piano and an electric/digital piano?
Both the acoustic piano and electric piano use what is known as weighted keys so they are, in fact, very similar. However, the "touch" of these keys may vary as the acoustic piano keys generally requires greater skill in handling especially if you wish to control the volume of the sound. The electric piano on the other hand offers you the option of turning the volume low if you with to practice quietly or even silently at night, using headphones. The keys are slightly lighter in touch so making it easier for the beginner to handle. You will also have other instrument sounds and functions on the electric piano you can use, besides the piano sound. There is also no need for tuning maintenance, which is required for the acoustic piano.
Is it FUN?
Music has the power to affect our emotions and the way we see things. As you begin this journey into this awesome creation of God, you will begin to express yourself in a new way! In addition, all sessions are conducted in a class setting so you will get to meet people of the same passion pursuing the same skill together with you! Our coaches also ensure you get personal attention in the midst of coaching the class as a group. We encourage you to come with an open mind and experience music with us!
